چکیده

Distributed Coordination Function is the crucial component of IEEE 802.11 standard and has been examined over the past years. We extended the Markov Model to formulate the delay characteristic of the network. Our approach is unique in terms of finding the probability mass function of the time interval between successful transmissions of a station. These results are essential for predicting the performance of the system for QoS implementations.

Performance Analysis of IEEE 802.11 Non-Saturated DCF

In the IEEE 802.11MAC layer protocol, the basic access method is the Distributed Coordination Function which is based on the CSMA/CA. In this paper, we investigate the performance of IEEE 802.11 DCF in the non-saturation condition. We assume that there is a fixed number n of competing stations and packet arrival process to a station is a poisson process. We model IEEE 802.11 DCF in non-saturati...

Comparative Analysis of PCF, DCF and EDCF over IEEE 802.11 WLANs

with the enhancement of wireless network, QoS has become major researcher area. IEEE802.11 standard has two sub layers MAC protocols like as Distribution Coordination Function (DCF), Point Coordination Function (PCF). Medium access coordination function basically implements the Distribution Coordination Function (DCF) and Point Coordination Function (PCF) which support just to best effort servi...

Queueing Analysis of IEEE 802.11 Point Coordination Function

In this paper, we present an analytic model for evaluating the queueing delays at nodes using the IEEE 802.11 Point Coordination Function (PCF) MAC for real time, delay sensitive traffic. We develop a queueing model for each node to obtain closed form expressions for the expected delay which accounts for arbitrary packet sizes, polling rates, channel rates and the order in which the nodes are p...

Performance Evaluation of IEEE 802.11 Distributed Coordination Function (DCF) in a Multi-Rate WLAN

IEEE 802.11 is the most important standard for wireless local area networks (WLANS). This paper presents a performance evaluation of IEEE 802.11 Distributed Coordination Function (DCF) in a multi-rate WLAN. We studied how throughput and delay varies with the distance of transmission in a multi-rate WLAN and the result was used to compare that of single rate WLAN. From the analysis it was observ...

Packet Delay Metrics for IEEE 802.11 Distributed Coordination Function

In this paper, we introduce a comprehensive packet delay analysis for wireless networks based on IEEE 802.11 Distributed Coordination Function (DCF). We develop mathematical models that calculate a set of packet delay metrics, namely a) the average packet delay for successfully transmitted packets, b) the average packet delay of successfully transmitted packets experiencing a specific number of...
